Google+ Offering Vanity URLs To Established Accounts

Google Plus Vanity Page for Social News Daily

If you travel to Google.com/+socialnewsdaily you will find our official Google Plus page. That’s because Google+ on Tuesday began offering vanity URLs to established Google+ accounts.

We didn’t have to apply for our business name, a simple email was sent to our inbox and we just had to click on a Google+ provided box and accept the social platforms terms of service.

If you haven’t received an invitation at this time fret not, Google+ will expand the program throughout the week.

On my personal Google+ account I receive a +Username I did not want, at which point a box asked me to suggest a new name that has not yet been claimed or reserved automatically by the Google+ team.

A vanity URL if you are not familiar with the term is a URL that makes it easier to point your friends, family, and fans to your social network pages. For example my public Facebook page is located at Facebook.com/JamesAKosur

Google+ started testing the vanity URL setup in August 2012 but those accounts were limited to only a select number of business accounts.

So what will you need in order to quality for a Google+ vanity URL? The company listed the following simple requirements:

  • Have a profile photo
  • Have at least 10 followers, and
  • Have an account that’s at least 30 days old.

Brands and businesses that have a linked website or a verified local business can claim a custom URL for their Google+ page as well.

If you need more information check out the Google+ Help Center.

Are you excited to finally be getting your hands on a Google+ Vanity URL?
