The Golden Corral restaurant chain is currently dealing with a major PR food handling nightmare. The company came under fire on Monday when a Reddit post showed alleged images of disgusting kitchen conditions and food being stored next to a dumpster.
Reddit user GCWhistleblower posted four pictures of a Golden Corral kitchen and in those photos garbage was located next to food which was spilling out of boxes. The Reddit user posted the following caption alongside their pictures:
“Just an average day for a Golden Corral Employee, best working conditions ever!”
A video is then shown (see above) that features the nasty conditions at the Golden Corral restaurant.
Responding to the Reddit post a Golden Corral spokesperson offers the following statement:
A video was recently posted showing an incident of improper food handling at our Port Orange, Fla., location. None of these items were served to a single customer. All were destroyed within the hour at the direction of management. Brandon Huber, the employee who made the video, participated in the disposal of the food.
The following day, the father of the employee, posted an offer to sell the video for $5,000, which was not accepted.
The manager involved in the improper storage was terminated for failing to follow approved food handling procedures.
Brandon Huber has not commented on his video at this time.
Will you be eating at a local Golden Corral restaurant anytime in the near future?
