Girl Scout Cookies Now Available Online

The Girl Scouts are now selling cookies online.

But don’t get your hopes up too fast. You can’t exactly go to a website right now and order your fill of Girl Scout Cookies. According to USA Today, you still need to go through a girl scout to get your cookies.

The new program, called Digital Cookie, is only available via an email invitation, and those invitations can only come from the Girl Scouts.

Sarah Angel-Johnson, who directs the digital cookie effort, said: “Girls across the country now can use modern tools to expand the size and scope of their cookie business and learn vital entrepreneurial lessons in online marketing, application use and e-commerce.”

The Girl Scouts use cookies as a way to teach young girls about business. The Digital Cookie program will focus on teaching young girls business skills in the new digital age.

Each Girl Scout who participates in the Digital Cookie program will get their own cookie website. The website will make it easier for the scouts to track sales, see how many days left they have to complete their goal, and what percentage of that goal has been reached.

Girl Scout Bria Vainqueur, 13, told the NY Times: “I love going around my neighborhood, my parents’ jobs and my grandfather’s job/ I’ve been selling cookies since I joined scouting when I was 6, including setting up a booth at our local Stop & Shop. But the digital option is going to make it easier to reach a lot more people and to take and keep track of their orders.”
