Krispy Kreme is no stranger to crazy-fun promotion. on February 25 2015, the celebrated opening their 1000th store in Kansas City, Kansas, by awarding the very first customer to walk through their doors with the happy privilege of getting a box of a dozen donuts every week of the year, absolutely free.
Krispy Kreme’s story is one of how hard work and quick-thinking can have its sweet rewards. In 1933, a fresh-faced 18-year old Vernon Rudolph began working at his uncle Ishmael Armstrong’s general store in Paducah, Kentucky. It was from this humble shop they began selling these delectable, glazed donuts. the Great Depression trudged on, and soon uncle and nephew packed up and moved on to bigger things. they set up shop in Nashville and focused on selling donuts. And thus, “The Krispy Kreme Doughnut Company” officially opened its doors to the public in 1937, and we’ve enjoying their sugary soft baked treats ever since.
