2016 is going to be a big year for X Men fans. In addition to X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool, Twentieth Century Fox just announced that a Gambit spinoff starring Channing Tatum will also hit theaters in 2016.
Tatum revealed the news on Twitter earlier this week.

Channing Tatum is also expected to play Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse, which will hit theaters a few months earlier on May 27, 2016.

Polygon reports that Channing Tatum’s Gambit was originally slated for release in 2018. It’s unclear why Fox is moving the movie up but Gambit wasn’t the only movie to get a new release date today.
The company moved the new Planet Of The Apes release date back to July 2017 from July 2016, the Fantastic Four sequel moved from July 2017 to June 2017, and set the release date for Assassin’s Creed for December 21, 2016.
Fox isn’t the only company with a busy schedule coming up. Disney and Marvel will be releasing dozens of major blockbusters over the next few years.
