FIFA’s 2022 Qatar World Cup Moved To Fall Or Winter [Twitter Reacts]

FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup

FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke announced on Wednesday that the 2022 Soccer World Cup in Qatar won’t be played in the summer months. He explained that, instead, it will be played “between November 15 and January 15 the latest.”

The organization delayed its decision in October about whether it would play the tournament in winter saying it was setting up a consultation process to decide when the finals would be held. At the time, the body said it would reach a conclusion after this year’s World Cup in Brazil, notes The New York Times.

Knowing that, Valcke’s comments were a surprise, and certainly not something soccer fans wanted to hear, as evidenced by their response on Twitter. While most took aim simply at the new announcement, there was an underlying resentment as well that the World Cup was being held in Qatar in the first place.

Thankfully for FIFA, not everyone was upset with the announcement. There were a few users who were either intrigued or happy with the choice.
