Facebook acquired Little Eye Labs this week for a reported $10 million to $15 million. The Indian startup makes a software tool for analyzing the performance of Android apps.
The Bangalore-based company announced the deal on its website, explaining, “With this acquisition, Little Eye Labs will join forces with Facebook to take its mobile development to the next level. This is Facebook’s first acquisition of an Indian company, and we are happy to become part of such an incredible team.”
The company’s team will move from Bangalore to Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California, where it will build analysis tools for the social network to help develop apps.
TechCrunch first reported the potential sale last month, and the site’s Pankaj Mishra wrote that the acquisition would fit into Facebook’s mobile strategy. The company has lagged behind rivals like Twitter, even though 847 million of its 1.19 billion users access the social network mainly from their mobile devices.
LEL added that its current customers of Little Eye for Android will “receive further information on plans to offer a free version of Little Eye until June 30, 2014. The app helps developers measure, analyze, and optimize their app’s performance on the operating system.
