FeedKite is a Facebook app for people who love to travel and anyone who wants to see what their friends did on their travels. The premise of the application is simple, it finds locations your friends have taken photos from and plots those trips on a map which can be used to discover new sights.
Upon signing up for the program FeedKite asks users to choose their “travel type” for customization purposes. I chose “Nature Trooper” since I like to get away from the technology I use everyday, however users can also choose: Resort Hopper, City Explorer, Cruise Navigator, Business Traveler and Home Lover all of which have their own characters.
Once you’ve chosen your traveler type you’ll quickly begin to realize how simple FeedKite really is to use, the program basically takes your friends main profile photos and places them on a map of the world so you can see where they have traveled. If you click on a picture a conversation bubble pops up to show you where that friend traveled and you can then click on a the link to see all of the photos they took from that location.
Using the map users can also drag the terrain around to different locations or zoom in and out to gain a better perspective of your friends list and their worldwide travels.
Users can also search places, look through friends photos and entire albums and even like and favorite locations for future reference.
Whether you want to find a place to travel or you want to see places to go when you get there, FeedKite is a free and useful application which is worth a fun look.
