When Facebook’s board of directors meet with stockholders on June 11 the company’s first ever shareholders meeting will be virtually broadcast via a real-time webcast.
While some companies such as Google choose to broadcast shareholder meetings, others such as Apple choose to leave those meetings as less accessible to all shareholders.
During the meeting Facebook will elect its board of directors. In a letter to Facebook shareholders the company asked them to elect all existing board members who currently serve the Facebook community. The only exception is Jim Breyer who announced in April that he was stepping down after serving the company over the last eight years.
Seeking re-election to the board of directors are Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg, Donald Graham, Marc Andreessen, Erskine Bowles, Reed Hastings, Peter Thiel, and Susan Desmond-Hellmann.
Also on the docket will be non-binding advisory votes for compensation paid to Facebook executive officers. It will also be determined if stockholders should vote on the company’s compensation program every one, two, or three years.
Facebook’s first shareholder meeting will be held at The Westin San Francisco Airport at 11am PST on June 11.
It should be an interesting meeting considering Facebook shares debuted at $38 during the IPO, then sunk below $20 before climbing back to $28.31 on May 3, 2013. Facebook shares are currently trading at $23.52.
