Facebook Acquires Branch Media, Adding Team To New ‘Conversations’ Group

Facebook

Facebook acquired Little Eye Labs last week, a startup specializing in mobile software, and today acquired another startup by the name of Branch Media.

Branch Media is the company behind conversation tool Branch and link-sharing service Potluck, and its team will join Facebook’s new Conversations group in New York City.

Co-Founder Josh Miller made the announcement on Facebook, and here’s what he had to say:

We will be forming Facebook’s Conversations group, based in New York City, with the goal of helping people connect with others around their interests. Their pitch to us was: “Build Branch at Facebook scale!”

Although the products we build will be reminiscent of Branch and Potluck, those services will live on outside of Facebook. A more thoughtful note and details to come soon but I am writing this haphazardly from a mountain in Japan (I was tipped that the story was going to leak while on vacation).

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the acquisition, and according to The Verge, Branch Media was reportedly acquired for around $15 million.
