Adrian Ballinger and Cory Richards are climbing Mount Everest in a way that has never been done before, they’re snapchatting their entire journey using the hashtag #EverestNoFilter. Though there have been pictures and videos of the mountain and climbers since Edmund Hillary and Tenzig Norway in 1953, this is probably the first time that we’ve seen images of the summit attempt in real-time.

The guys arrived at Base Camp on April 13th and according to the mission statement on their website, they’re going to try to reach the peak of Mount Everest with out supplemental oxygen. Which is a pretty big deal, especially for two white guys (the Sherpas are a lot better at summitting without oxygen because they’re from the region). These two are no strangers to mountaineering, Ballinger has reached the top of Everest on six times and Richards has a lot of experience in the Himalayas under his belt.

The guys are also posting on Instagram and Twitter about their trip and they’ve garnered a pretty large following. Obviously, they’re having to post everything via a satellite since there isn’t much service on the world’s tallest mountain.
