Digg Reader Will Be Integrated Into Existing iOS App

Digg Reader Being Added to iOS App

The Digg Reader is currently in development and when completed it will be rolled into Betawork’s existing Digg app for iOS.

According to the company the Digg Reader platform has already shifted onto production servers and features a full API set for developers. The app is expected to launch by the end of June.

Speaking to The Next Web CEO Andrew McLaughlin revealed that Digg Reader will “have one download, which is Digg, and the current Digg will have added onto it reader capabilities.”

McLaughlin also reveals that the company is hoping to make “something that’s very clean, very simple, and very fast,” with McLaughlin calling it a “production tool” with the option to sort and rank content in various ways, including by popularity.

Digg will focus on a web and iOS version with a Google Android app to arrive at another time.

As we recently reported the Digg Reader is expected to be offered as a paid subscription solution. The company claims that by offering a subscription to Digg Reader it can avoid cumbersome ads and other issues. It’s not clear how that subscription will work if the Google Reader alternative is tied into the iOS app.
