Dating app Tinder has quickly taken the world by storm, and according to CEO and co-founder Sean Rad, it now sees 750 million “swipes” per day.
To accept a connection request you swipe right, and to deny a request you swipe left.
Rad spoke today at Upfront Summit 2014, and also said that the “swipes” lead to around 10 million matches every day, which is up from five million in December.
Danny Sullivan of Marketing Land was there to cover the talk, and here are some highlights:
The idea behind starting Tinder:
“You’re either a hunter and put yourself out there and subject to rejection or people are coming after you, and you feel you’re perhaps being violated. There’s an inherent tension. We set out to solve that.”
Standing out among everyone else:
“It is all about the picture. Headshots don’t work. People like to see personality in Tinder photos.”
Helping users get matched up with the right people:
“We know what leads to a meaningful conversation. The majority of our audience has been matched over and over again.”
According to Rad, the average user visits Tinder about seven times per day, and it was just two weeks ago that the dating app reportedly hit 600 million swipes per day.
