The Met Gala, held last Saturday, saw Hollywood’s most fashionable stars step out in their finest. The theme of the evening was “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology”, and many celebrities were keen to show off well-toned bodies and radiant skin together with metallic tones, glittering jewels, and everything sheer and shiny.
Kylie Jenner was not shy from showing skin along with her silver.
Kim Kardashian stepped out in fembot realness, while husband Kanye West unsettled with a pair of silver contact lenses.
Ciara’s platinum tresses and jeweled frock spoke of a glitzy dieselpunk 1920’s.
Kristen Stewart evoked a 90’s silver punk vibe.
Emma Watson’s classy dress-suit hybrid was made from yarn derived from plastic bottles, an astounding tribute to her advocacies for the environment.

While the rest of the internet oohed, aahed, and oh-myed at the fashions on the Met Gala’s red carpet, one elegant dress had more surprises tucked in its hems. Or rather, perhaps we should say, woven into its threads.
Claire Danes stepped onto the red carpet in an elegant powder blue confection, fit more for a fairy tale than sci-fi story. Designer Zac Posen hovered close by. It seems There was nothing that spoke of tech about the dress…
By nightfall, the dress did not speak. It sang.
The secret? A combination woven textile of organza and fiber optics. Posen was beside himself with glee, proud over the dress and the lovely Ms Danes wearing it. You can see how beautifully the garment moves in the short video below:
