Alabama kicker Cade Foster received a note of encouragement from former President George W. Bush after Foster missed three field goals in the Crimson Tide’s 34-28 loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl on November 30.
Because of Foster’s struggles during the game, ‘Bama coach Nick Saban sent out freshman kicker Adam Griffith to attempt a 57-yard field goal with one second to go. That missed field goal cost the Tide the game, because Auburn’s Chris Davis returned 109 for an improbable game-winning touchdown.
Fans attacked Foster on Twitter for the loss, but his teammates rallied around him, with Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron encouraging him to “hold your head high,” according to ESPN. McCarron added of Foster, “Cade’s a great kid. It wasn’t all his fault. Other people struggled. I love him to death and I have all the confidence in him in the world that he could go out there right now and make the kicks.”
For all the tweets and words of encouragement Cade Foster received from his friends, family, and teammates, nothing seemed to compare to the handwritten note from the 43rd President of the United States, who told the kicker he “will be a stronger human with time.” Foster posted a photo of the image to his Twitter and Instagram accounts, proving just how proud he was to receive the personal note.
Dear Cade (#43), life has it’s setbacks. I know! However, you will be stronger with time..Sincerely- George Bush pic.twitter.com/jesykfKpDx

In case you can’t read George W. Bush’s handwriting (and we don’t blame you if you can’t), the note reads:
“Dear Cade (#43),
Life has its setbacks. I know! However, you will be a stronger human with time. I wish you all the best.
Sincerely — another 43”
According to Foster, the handwritten note will be framed.
