Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson got engaged last night!
Griner, a two-time WNBA All-Star, shared the news on Instagram, writing: “Last Night was a Night to Remember! I became the happiest person on this earth! (almost pass out but when that one word came out I came back to life) Me and my baby @missvol25 are in it for Life!”
Johnson also shared a sweet photo on Instagram.
Johnson writes: What I get to wake up to #LoveMakesYouDoTheCraziestThings
Griner and Johnson are both at the start of successful careers in the WNBA. Griner, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury, was drafted with the no.1 pick in 2013 and already holds a few WNBA records like most dunks in a game. Johnson was selected fourth in the 2012 WNBA Draft and currently plays for the Tulsa Shock.
Professional basketball continues to be one of the most progressive sports in the country. The Sacramento Kings recently signed the league’s first player of Indian descent, Becky Hammon recently became the first woman to land an assistant coaching gig in the NBA, and we’ll soon have a married couple playing in the WNBA.
Congrats Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson!
