Santonio Holmes Signs With Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears signed Santonio Holmes to a one-year contract this weekend.

The Bears already have two Pro Bowl wide receivers in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery but they could use another reliable option. Holmes has lost a step or two since suffering a foot injury in 2012 but he will still make the Bears offense a little more dangerous.

According to CBS Sports, the Bears cut wide receiver and special teams player Eric Weems to make room for Santonio Holmes.

Holmes was drafted in 2006 by the Steelers. He was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII after catching nine passes for 131 yards and scoring the game winning touchdown with 35 seconds left on the clock. The following year, Holmes had 79 receptions for 1248 yards and five touchdowns.

The 30-year-old wide receiver hasn’t had a 1000 yard season since 2009 but he could hit that mark again if he manages to stay healthy all season.
