Meet Britain’s oldest rapper. Norma Clarke is a 78-year-old great grandmother with some mad rap skills. Her rapping skills recently went viral under some very strange circumstances. After suffering a severe nosebleed, Clarke ended up in an ambulance. On the way to the hospital, Clarke shocked the paramedics with an impromptu rap session. In the video, it shows Norma performing her original rhyme, “Sam the Rapper.”
Clarke’s grandson was with his grandmother in the ambulance and began recording her performance. The rap tells the story of a young musician and a shopkeeper and how Norma stood up for the young man. With more than 300 songs under her belt, this was just a quick diddy compared to her other work.

Not surprising, this isn’t the grandma’s first foray into the spotlight. She had a brief stint on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2007 Clarke says she is a huge fan of Eminem and Dr. Dre. The grandsom uploaded the video to Facebook and plunged his grandma back into the spotlight. With thousands of views, the video quickly went viral.
“I suppose it is a bit unusual for someone of my age but I’ve never really thought about it like that. I’m just glad that people appreciate the talents of someone in my age group,” explains Norma.
Although, she went on to explain that she only rapped because one of the paramedics remembered her from TV. She says she was actually kind of upset that her grandson recorded her and uploaded it on social media.
And, in case you were wondering, the eldery rapper is back home and healthy.
