Bono is sorry. The musician apologized today for making Apple users download U2’s new album Songs Of Innocence.
Earlier this year, U2 and Apple teamed up to give every single iTunes user a free copy of the new album. While some people appreciated the free music, others felt like they were shouldn’t be forced to listen to music they don’t like.
The internet was outraged that Apple even had to come up with a workaround to let people delete the album.
Well, Bono has heard the complaints. During a Q&A session on Facebook yesterday, the musician addressed the controversy and admitted that he got a little carried away.
Bono said: “Oops. Sorry about that. I had a beautiful idea but I got a little carried away with it. Artists are prone to that caught of thing. It was a drop of megalomania, a tough of generosity, a dash of self promotion, and a deep fear that these songs mightn’t be heard. There’s a lot of noises out there.”

Bono’s apology seems sincere. But then again, it has to be pretty easy to apologize for something when it has already reportedly earned you another $100 million.
