It is safe to say coulrophobia is at an all time high right now (fear of clowns) between IT and the sheer amount of clowns on the new season of American Horror Story. And to be honest, clowns have always been a source of fear for some people (I blame John Wayne Gacy), so for one father to dress up as a scary clown and try to kidnap his daughter (as a prank) is wrong on so many levels, there should be some jail time for something this cruel.
Witnessed by a woman who called 9-1-1 because she saw a CLOWN CHASING A LITTLE GIRL DOWN THE STREET.
But wait, it gets worse.
So the little girl is running from her 25 year old Father, Vernon Barrett Jr who is in full clown mask, and she runs to a neighbor’s house and begs to be let in while all this is happening because a clown was chasing her. The neighbor then pulls her in the apartment and grabbed a gun, which he pointed out the window and “shot in the air.” Police smelled booze on the neighbors breath and arrested him for firing a gun while intoxicated. Yes, that’s a thing you’re not supposed to do. No one can even be sure he didn’t actually shoot at the clown and miss. But who can blame him. He was drunk and trying to protect a young girl from essentially this:
The girl told the cops she assumed it might be her Dad but was too scared to confirm it, which the police sadly did.
So two men were arrested, and the father blamed the ex-wife (not kidding) and the guy who shot the gun, well, I know I am supposed to be unbiased, but good for him. Clowns who chase little screaming girls down the street should be shot (at, my editor is telling me to use the word “at” here).
That’s crappy parenting 101 right there.
