Alex Trebek has mad rap skills, and he isn’t afraid to use them … on Jeopardy. The 73-year-old game show host is no stranger to getting into the trivia he posts, but this time he showed just how great he is at busting out lyrics from Dr. Dre, Notorious B.I.G., Public Enemy, and the Beastie Boys.
Trebek’s rapping rendition even caused the night’s top-scoring contestant, Mary Manhardt, to laugh while she answered the category’s final question correctly. Trebek joked back, “Yes, and I don’t know why that’s making you laugh so much.”
His performance even earned him a trending hashtag on Twitter, which naturally made some people wonder if the Jeopardy host was dead. Thankfully, The Wire set them straight with an article titled, “Alex Trebek Is Not Dead. He Is Rapping.” Well, thanks for clearing that one up!
One Twitter user wrote, “Alex Trebek is my idol. He could be the new Macklemore. Lol.” Other fans also wrote:
#AlexTrebek just read every clue in a “Rappers” category like he was from the south side of Chicago. I literally cannnnot right now.
