Many theaters won’t be making fun of North Korea this month because Sony pulled Seth Rogen and James Franco’s new movie The Interview. The Alamo Draft House, however, has found a little loophole. The Texas movie theater will be showing the 2004 film Team America: World Police.
Team America: World Police was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone (the guys behind South Park) and resolves around Kim Jong Un’s father Kim Jong Il. The tagline for the movie is “Putting the F back in Freedom.”
James Wallace, creative manager and programmer at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s Dallas/Fort Worth location, said: “We’re just trying to make the best of an unfortunate situation.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Alamo Draft House will also be handing out American flags and other patriotic items during the screening.
The theater writes on its website: “We’ll have subtitles for all the songs and all of our favorite quotes, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to scream out ‘AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!’ at the top of your lungs. And yeah, we will have American flags, red white and blue streamers, balloons, and more for everyone. And THAT is how true American heroes will be celebrating this year, but if you want to let the terrorists win…well, that’s your prerogative.”
North Korea isn’t too happy with the movie The Interview. More specifically, it appears that Kim Jong Un is very upset about the North Korean leader’s death scene in the new movie.
There are currently no plans to put The Interview back in theaters.
