Medication is considered (and criticized) as a knee-jerk reaction to an ADHD diagnosis by some educators and parents. Sure, something has to be done, but they’d argue that a hands-on approach that emphasizes self-control and understanding is a hell of a lot better than turning a young kid into a walking zombie.
If you don’t buy that, watch the video above. In it, high school student Max shows us ADHD from his perspective. He grapples with the choice between “downer” medication and intensive tutoring, a choice already made for so many children by parents and shrinks. At the end, he reveals the choice that made him “happy.”
Published to YouTube just last week by xxIndieVisualxx, “Minimum Max” has gone semi-viral with nearly 300,000 hits.
