Alexander Rodriguez announced his return to the New York Yankees on Tuesday night and that single Tweet has landed him in trouble with Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman.
After being given the okay to return Rodriguez posted the following tweet:
Visit from Dr. Kelly over the weekend, who gave me the best news – the green light to play games again! https://t.co/RuzfXOJjHI
— Alex Rodriguez (@AROD) June 25, 2013
After that Tweet was posted Cashman told ESPN New York:
“You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]. Alex should just shut the f*ck up. That’s it. I’m going to call Alex now.”
On Wednesday morning A-Rod released the following non-apologetic statement:
“I will continue to work hard until my efforts get me back in pinstripes and help my team win. The tweet was pure excitement about Dr. Kelly’s prognosis.”
Do you think the Yankee’s GM over-reacted to a simple Twitter announcement?
