Facebook apps are used by hundreds of millions of users, and according to social marketing platform Tigerlily, 39 percent of Facebook apps are profitable on average.
Tigerlily was able to come up with that figure by measuring the value of users, earned clicks, and then subtracting costs.
In an infographic titled “The State Of Play,” the company also revealed statistics about Facebook apps.
61 percent of women play Facebook games versus 39 percent of men, and 25 to 34-year-olds play the most at 34.4 percent.
15 to 24-year-olds came in at 27.1 percent, 35 to 44-year-olds at 20.4 percent, and 45 to 54-year-olds at 10.3 percent.
Here is a breakdown of Facebook app use across different web browsers:
- Chrome – 42.7 percent
- Firefox – 25.4 percent
- Internet Explorer – 19.2 percent
- Safari – 6.5 percent
- Others – 3.1 percent
92 percent of Facebook apps are accessed on desktops, and iOS beats out Android in terms of access via mobile device at 63 percent.
52 percent of visitors to a game start playing, and 81 percent accept permissions.
The average time spent is two minutes, nine seconds, and 17 percent of new users are driven by referrals.
When it comes to acquiring leads through Facebook apps, Instant Wins are number one, followed by photo contests and then quizzes.
