Zooey Deschanel teased the return of Coach (aka Damon Wayans Jr.) to the hit sitcom New Girl.
Fans of the series fondly remember the character from the pilot episode of the comedy. Although he was originally slated to co-star on the show, his other small-screen venture Happy Endings was picked up for another season. That’s how business works in TV pilot world.
Instead of recasting the role with another actor, producers opted to bring in Lamorne Morris to fill the void left by Wayans. The characters still mention Coach from time-to-time on the series, which essentially left the proverbial door open for his return. Now it appears Wayans is finally coming back.
