YouTube has launched a new production studio in Tokyo. The announcement comes just a short time after the content provider purchased Tokyo based Next New Networks. YouTube has been actively investing in new equipment, tools and funding to help content creators improve the quality of their work.
The facility is located in the Roppongi Hills complex in Tokyo.
Just like the recently launched YouTube Spaces projects in London and Los Angeles, the Tokyo facility will only be available to approved YouTube partners who can use the facility free of charge. Content providers can create new videos and work with collaborators to hone their skills for later YouTube video production.
To gain access to the Tokyo YouTube Spaces facility users must apply at youtube.com/space.
YouTube will start taking applications on April 1 and will announce approved partners in the Spring.
Approved applicants will receive access to the YouTube production facility for three months. Access includes use of sound stages, high-quality cameras, lights, production and editing equipment and other helpful video production tools.
Aside from producing content YouTube Spaces is used for screening content, holding various live events and streaming live music sessions and Google Hangouts productions.
With the battle for high quality content extending to most streaming video platforms the launch of a Tokyo production studio for YouTube is not only welcomed, it is necessary.
