YouTube continues to grow exponentially and at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit, YouTube’s Global Head of Content, Robert Kyncl, announced that mobile views have increased by 400% in the past 18 months.
Previously, watching videos on mobile accounted for 6% of total traffic. Today that number is 25%. Robert went on to mention that he is very confident that mobile will soon surpass TV with Youtube being at the forefront of video consumption on mobile devices.
Thanks to iOS receive a native Youtube app and the Android app working well, more people are watching videos on their mobile devices.
The same ads users are familiar with on the desktop have also made their way to mobile. Considering how big of a role mobile is starting to play in the media space, these new statistics may prove to help increase ad revenue.
