YouTube Comments On Comments, New Updates To Minimize Spam

YouTube Comments

YouTube has received a lot of criticism over the new commenting system, and in a blog post, talked about the major issue of comment spam.

With the new YouTube comments, users can not only post ASCII art which often involves certain body parts, but also directly link websites.

The video site says it has received a lot of feedback about comment spam, and has pushed out the following updates:

  • Better recognition of bad links and impersonation attempts
  • Improved ASCII art detection
  • Changing how long comments are displayed

These are just a few of the biggest updates, and YouTube says it’s working on more improvements such as bulk moderation.

We know the spam issues made it hard to use the new system at first, and we’re excited to see more of you getting involved as we’ve fixed issues. New features like threaded conversations and formatted comments are coming to life, thanks to you and your fans.

Earlier this month, we got the opportunity to talk to YouTube partner Brock Baker about the new comments, and deeper Google+ integration.
