The Saudi Arabian woman, emotionally charged by the singer and the band, rushed to the stage to hug her favorite singer while donning a niqab veil.

The incident transpired when Majid al-Mohandis, Iraqi singer / composer, was performing on stage.

The leaked video shows Mohandis heartily opening his arms for the female fanatic for a dear hug and the woman holding on to him until security staff pulled her back.

Local newspaper Al-Madina reported the woman, whose name has not been disclosed, was arrested for public offense. The report explicates that the woman concedes to the hug while saying it was an emotional stir up.

The woman was principally accused of harassment, however her hugging a man in public is considered a stiffer offense against the Saudi Arabian religious laws. Saudi Arabian women are not permitted to mix with or touch men with whom they have no close familial relationship.

The woman, arrested earlier this month, received a sentence of 2 years in prison and a $27,000 fine for the ‘crime’.

Saudi Arabia, which before banned all women from driving cars and attending in stadiums along with many other discriminative laws, has made trivial amendments towards gender equality.

In case you were wondering — prosecution of a woman for touching a man in public and giving her a 2-year sentence, is unheard of in any other place around the globe, though, is characteristic in Saudi Arabia.
