Will Ferrell Sings “Star Trek” Theme Song on The Late Late Show [Video]

Will

Will Ferrell, one of our favorite funny men, wowed the Internet when he hit the high notes on late-night TV.

Ferrell dropped in on The Late Late Show with James Corden with his costar Kevin Hart to promote their new comedy “Get Hard“. Talk turned to Ferrell’s early years in stand-up comedy, and he confessed he would often start his shows singing the Star Trek opening theme from start to finish. With some encouragement from Corden and the audience, Ferrell broke into song, and the rest is history. Cue Kevin Hart’s astounded face, and you’ve got solid gold right there.

Eerie, enchanting, and downright amazing, applause all around for this hidden, geeky talent.

Good call, Will, but it seems you’ll need to do more than that to impress the hardcore fans. Trekkies will attest that the theme, originally entitled “Where No Man Has Gone Before”, was composed by Gene Roddenberry himself, actually has lyrics. For those of you who want to sing along, be our guest:

Beyond
The rim of the star-light
My love
Is wand’ring in star-flight
I know
He’ll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
I know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me.

All the same, we’ll give you an A for Effort and Awesomeness, Will.

Could he have missed a calling in life as a singer? Will there be any chance that he get cast in a future Star Trek movie? could he give Idris Elba a run for his money to terrorize the enterprise crew with his sjnging chops?
