Those purplebellies behind the Polar Vortex can’t stop the signal from this apparent Firefly fan, Browncoat, and meteorologist … and NBC12’s Andrew Freiden looks pretty cunning, don’tcha think?
Freidan did a recent cold snap forecast wearing the iconic symbol of the resilient Firefly fandom, known as “Jayne’s hat.” The knitted beanie featured in one of the show’s final episodes, “The Message,” sent to character Jayne Cobb from his mother in a care package.
Throughout the episode — one that is well loved in part for humanizing the generally mercenary character by revealing his possible true motivations for money-hungriness in an ill brother back home — Jayne’s hat earns him much scorn, but he continues to wear it.
