The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the tallest building in the world at nearly 3,000 feet high, and I’m just speaking for myself here, but when I read that my first thought was not “it would be awesome to jump off that.”
In fact, if we read that together and you said “it would be awesome to jump off that,” I would salute you for your brassnut-level bravery. If you then followed up with an invitation to a year-long training camp in which we’d be taught to jump off high things with the ultimate goal of BASE jumping the Burj Khalifa, I have to be honest, I’d run into my room screaming like a little b****.
That’s because I’m not Vince Reffet and Fred Fugen. Where I saw fear and wet underpants, these two Frenchmen saw opportunity. Where I saw a heart-attack and certain death, they saw a really tall thing to jump off of for, and I quote, “fun.”
“When I came the first time to Dubai and saw the tower I said: ‘This is the dream, the highest building in the world,’” Reffe said.
“People think you BASE jump because you are crazy, you like to get scared, but we like to fly, we like to have fun,” Fugen added.
Hat’s off, gentlemen.
Watch these two nuts BASE jump off the Burj Khalifa above, and if you’re still conscious, let us know what you think in the comments.
