Viacom has been battling Google in court since 2007 over alleged YouTube copyright infringement, and today both companies have resolved the matter.
From a press release:
“Google and Viacom today jointly announced the resolution of the Viacom vs. YouTube copyright litigation. This settlement reflects the growing collaborative dialogue between our two companies on important opportunities, and we look forward to working more closely together.”
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, and neither company has yet to share any further details.
Back in April 2013, Google won a decision for the second time after a New York court rejected the notion that YouTube must be held responsible for the upload of copyrighted works.
