Using Social Media On Your Phone Might Be Bad For You [Infographic]


Is using social media on your phone bad for you? According to a new infographic, using mobile apps for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and others might put a drain on your health as well as your battery.

Using social media apps like Facebook, Spotify and YouTube can consume roughly $2,500 worth of memory each year according to data compiled by Ligo Electronics into the infographic posted below.

A recent survey shows that 66 percent of respondents admit to trouble sleeping after using social media. Tweeting while driving slows down your reaction time by 38 percent (more than being drunk or high).

Some other highlights from the study:

  • The most popular free social app is Facebook, with 192M on Android and 147M on iOS.
  • Drivers using social on their phones are 4x more likely to crash.
  • 45 percent of people feel worried or uncomfortable when they can’t access their social networks.
  • 64 percent of people have accepted a fried request from a stranger.
