Twitter Wins The Super Bowl, Mentioned In More Than 50% Of Ads

Twitter Wins The Super Bowl

And the Super Bowl XLVII winner is … Twitter!

The micro-blogging network was mentioned in more than 50 percent of all Super Bowl commercial and collected more than 24 million Tweets during the NFL’s biggest event.

According to Matt McGee at MarketingLand Twitter managed to sneak its way into more than half of the 52 national commercials that aired from kickoff through the final seconds of Super Bowl 47.

In comparison Facebook was only mentioned in 8 percent of all Super Bowl commercials.

In 2012 both Twitter and Facebook were mentioned in just eight commercials each.

Instagram managed to get one mention this year thanks to Orea’s call-to-action campaign.

Failing to gain any attention for the second year in a row was Google+ which was left out completely from all national ad campaigns.

Are you surprised by Twitter’s rising fame among national commercial spots at the Super Bowl?
