Tina Fey’s new comedy is almost here. A trailer for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which will start streaming on Netflix on March 6, has just hit the internet.
Fey’s new show stars Ellie Kemper, best known for playing Erin on the show The Office, as a woman who escapes a cult and starts a new life in New York City.
Fey and Robert Carlock said: “We found the inspiration for this series in Ellie Kemper’s shining all-American face, and we know that she and Kimmy Schmidt have found their best possible home at Netflix.”
Deadline reports that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was originally developed for NBC but the network eventually sold it to Netflix. The online streaming giant has already ordered a second season of he show
Fey and Carlock added: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to debut Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt exclusively on Netflix, which has proven to be such an outstanding place for distinctive, original programming. Happily, we will still collaborate with our longtime partners at Universal Television to fulfill Netflix’s two-season order. We grew up at NBC and will continue to develop broadcast projects with them as well.”
In addition to Kemper, the show will also star Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess, Carol Kane, Sol Miranda, Lauren Adams and Sara Chase.
