Top 5 Adorable Pet Costumes this Year’s Halloween

Halloween 2014 came and went without too many surprises. I, for one, saw quite a few pet Halloween costumes this year. The best costumes were when the pet and owner did a collaboration… although those were few and far between. And for those of you who missed Halloween this year, now is the perfect time to pick out a pet costume for next year, while all the sales are 50% off!

My favorite pet costumes this year were:

5. Skeleton Dog

Can you say adorable? This costume is not only practical, but also seems very pet-compatible, without any extra “parts” to annoy your pet. It’s one of the few pet costumes without a hat, any accessories, or breakable/tearable parts. Plus, the color pallet seems to work well with black, white, and grey furred pets.

4. The World’s Tiniest Giraffe

There’s something about pets dressed as other animals that tugs a heartstring. This adorable  giraffe costume seemed to be popular this year, especially among the smaller dogs.

Did you seen any animals dressed as other animals this year while out trick-or-treating?

3. Angry cats in costumes

I only saw a couple cats out on my Halloween rounds – and none of them seemed happy to be in costume. I guess cats just don’t like costumes.

This cat seems especially angry to be dressed in a wizard costume hanging out in a pumpkin patch. Other upset cats in costumes this year were superheros and pirates.

2. Intense Dog Racing

You can’t help but smile when you see clever costumes like these. Or, maybe you can, but I can’t. This costume certainly is “out of the box.” You can get extra points if you can find another dog dressed up as a greyhound racing dog.

1. The cutest little weiner

This costume seems very DIY-able. I saw quite a few this year, though usually without the catsup on the top. If you want to try to make your own pet costume next year, this one seems pretty straightforward and incredibly adorable. There also seemed to be quite a few dogs dressed in taco suits this year.

The best costumes are clever and cute.

Extra: Christmas Special!

Just because Halloween is over doesn’t mean that you can’t still dress up your pets (if you somehow missed the Halloween bandwagon).

After all, Christmas is just around the corner. In a month and a half, it’s once again socially acceptable to dress up your pets in capes, hats, and sweaters – all in the name of Christmas cheer!

You can get extra points for a Christmas-themed pet costume!

If you decide to dress up your pet for Christmas (or Halloween next year), don’t forget to share your photos on Social Media. Elaborate pet costumes can be a great way to reach a new audience on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram!
