Tiger on the Loose Near Disneyland Paris

Visitors to Disneyland Paris might spot a tiger if they happen to visit the park today — and this one is closer to Shere Khan from the Jungle Book than Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.

French authorities are reporting that a tiger has been lurking in the vicinity of Disneyland Paris, having been spotted in the grounds of a leisure complex a few kilometres away from the park. There is little indication that the tiger intends to visit the popular tourist destination, but as you can imagine the thought of a big cat descending upon the attraction has set some minds racing.

Both EuroDisney and a local zoo have denied that the tiger came from them, which prompts the question of just how far the beast has come and how long it has been roaming around. Tigers are, obviously, not native to France — so someone must know where this particular tiger came from; it’s hardly the sort of thing that could go missing without the owner noticing.

Unlike Walt Disney World in Florida, Disneyland Paris does not feature an Animal Kingdom attraction, so there’s little chance of the tiger hoping to make the park its permanent home. As of the time of writing, police are attempting to pen the animal in to the area in which it has been sighted.

The combination of childhood memories of visiting Disney theme parks with an animal proved too much for the internet to bear, and Twitter is currently buzzing with talk of the travelling tiger.

Many took to Twitter to express their heartfelt concern for families attending the park with a tiger close by.

However, the vast majority found the whole situation rather humorous — as it’s quite easy to do when you’re not staring down a tiger yourself.

Tigger was a highly favored comparison for obvious reasons, but some more imaginative Twitter users found another famous striped face to bring into the discussion — namely noted breakfast mascot Tony the Tiger.

People generally just had a lot to say about the tiger; if there was ever any doubt, the internet really does love animals of all kinds, and will tweet about them endlessly.
