The Simpsons Marathon: FXX To Air All 552 Episodes Over 12 Days

What are you doing for the next 12 days? The Simpsons marathon starts today on FXX.

The Simpsons were created by Matt Groening back in 1987 for The Tracey Ullman Show. Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge and Maggie got their own show in 1989 and they’ve been on the air ever since. That’s 25 seasons or 552 episodes. It is the longest-running scripted series in television history.

It will take FXX close to two weeks to air the entire series during its The Simpsons Marathon.

The Simpsons Marathon will start today at 10 am on FXX with the show’s 1989 pilot. 552 episodes later, the marathon will end on September 1 with the season 25 finale. According to the Washington Post, FXX will also air The Simpsons Movie in the middle of the marathon at 6 p.m. Aug. 29.

If you’re thinking about going on a 278 hour bing watching marathon, don’t. You won’t make it. In fact, the world record for watching The Simpsons (yes, there is a record) is merely 86.7 hours. The contest was eventually called off because organizers were worried about the safety of the participants.

OK, it’s time to watch The Simpsons marathon. If you’re looking for someone to watch the entire series with you can check out the @EverySimpsons Twitter account. It will be sharing tweets from fans as well as messages from the show’s actors, creators and writers.
