Star Wars: Episode VII finally has an official title. Disney announced this morning that the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise will be called The Force Awakens.
The new Star Wars movie isn’t slated to hit theaters until Christmas, 2015, but it looks like J.J. Abrams and crew are already ahead of schedule. Disney also announced today that principal photography had been completed on the new film.

The Force Awakens? Weird cuz in the first six movies the force seemed pretty AWAKE to me. — Mike O’Gorman (@mikeogorman) November 6, 2014

‘The Force Awakens’ sort of feels quite classic while not aping any of the existing names. Sounds suitably epic, anyway.

The force may have been awake and active during the previous six Star Wars film but Episode VII promises to be a new beginning for the franchise. It’s unclear what the title implies (does a new character find the force or does it have galactic implications) but we’re pretty excited for December 18, 2015.
