The Force Awakens: New ‘Star Wars’ Movie Gets Official Title

Star Wars: Episode VII finally has an official title. Disney announced this morning that the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise will be called The Force Awakens.

The new Star Wars movie isn’t slated to hit theaters until Christmas, 2015, but it looks like J.J. Abrams and crew are already ahead of schedule. Disney also announced today that principal photography had been completed on the new film.

After the announcement, “The Force Awakens” quickly became the top trending topic on Facebook. Fans were a bit divided on the title but hey, you’re never going to please everybody.

The force may have been awake and active during the previous six Star Wars film but Episode VII promises to be a new beginning for the franchise. It’s unclear what the title implies (does a new character find the force or does it have galactic implications) but we’re pretty excited for December 18, 2015.
