SXSW 2014 ended March 16, and according to a new infographic from Synthesio, it received over 2.2 million social media mentions over the course of 10 days.
The social media monitoring company analyzed posts from the start to finish, and the festival saw online chatter from over 200 countries.
Aside from #SXSW, there were also special hashtags for each different event, and here was the breakdown:
- #SXSWi – Over 142,000 mentions
- #SXSWFilm – Over 127,000 mentions
- #SXSWMusic – Over 53,000 mentions
Taking place in Austin, Texas, it’s no surprise that SXSW saw the most chatter in the U.S., and here were the top 10 countries based on mentions:
- United States – 1,078,409
- United Kingdom – 69,148
- Canada – 42,998
- Mexico – 22,663
- Brazil – 21,932
- France – 21,283
- Indonesia – 16,372
- Australia – 16,364
- India – 13,436
- Germany – 12,976
English, Spanish and Dutch were the three most popular languages spoken online about SXSW, and here were the most popular topics:
- “Joe” at #SXSWFilm
- “Break Point” at #SXSWFilm
- Lady Gaga at #SXSWMusic
