‘Super Troopers 2’ Confirmed By Steve Lemme

Super Troopers sequel is in the works.

The Broken Lizard comedy troupe has been playing with the idea of a sequel to the hit comedy movie for years and now Steve Lemme has confirmed that they will be making a Super Troopers 2.

Lemme, who played Mac in the first film, told Us Weekly that their will definitely be a Super Troopers sequel.

Lemme said: “I think it’s one of the more unique and interesting stories I’ve seen in awhile. But the movie picks up pretty much where we left off in the first one. It’s a few years later. The biggest difficulty was trying to top that opening scene, which so many people have complimented us on. I think we’ve done it.”

The actor said that a sequel has been in the works for a long time but that there was a lot of legal stuff to get through.

Lemme added: “You know, it was a combination of having to settle some of the legal disputes about making a sequel, while also negotiating terms for it … The fans have been asking for it for a while, but we were finally able to package everything together. Fox is going to distribute the film, but we needed to raise the money for it, with a minimum budget of $27 million, which we’ve just about raised. There may be a Kickstarter launched to raise the last little bit.”

Lemme said that pre-production should start within the next month or two and that Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Erik Stolhanske, and Paul Soter are planning to start filming at the start of 2015.
