Stephen King is on Twitter. The author finally broke down on Thursday and joined the social networking site, though it appeared he didn’t quite know what to say, at least at first.
My first tweet. No longer a virgin. Be gentle!

On Twitter at last, and can’t think of a thing to say. Some writer I turned out to be.

While he suffered from writer’s block at first, King has been chatting a bit with friends and fellow authors about Twitter and his everyday happenings … well, just one so far. He informed his new followers on Saturday:
Watching THE RETURNED. Scary and sexy. Fun to see a foreign TV show that hasn’t been Americanized. That kid Victor’s giving me nightmares.

According to The Telegraph, Stephen King’s decision to join Twitter came from his publisher, Scribner, who encouraged him to do so. Fans were warned that the author prefers books and wasn’t likely to tweet often. That didn’t stop fans from following him, or stop him from following a few people as well, most of whom are fellow authors.
