Spotify Adds $4.99 Plan For US Students

Spotify has taken a play from Amazon, and today announced a new $4.99 per month option for college students.

Half off the premium account, students will need to submit some form of identification to prove they go to an accredited college.

Here’s what documents will work:

-Copy of student ID card
-Transcript of latest term
-Tuition receipt

The deal works with new and existing Spotify accounts, and lasts for an entire year, which includes up to three renewals per student.

That means a total savings of $180 over three years, or enough Ramen to last you through the apocalypse. To learn more about the student discount, you can go here.

Earlier this month, Spotify acquired The Echo Nest, a music discovery service that powers much of today’s online radio.
