Today is December 7, 2013, marking the 72nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Seventy-two years on, people still take a moment to reflect on the event which plunged our nation into World War II, and social media is a fantastic place to do that.

Sometimes brands get involved too, and as we’ve documented before, they often have a habit of fucking everything up gloriously.

Here’s how SpaghettiOs decided to remember Pearl Harbor:

SpaghettiOs

Citizens of Twitter, apparently disgusted by a brand’s shameless self promotion on the graves of dead American heroes, were less than enchanted.

It wasn’t all abject horror and f-bombs. The tweet managed to get 4,800 retweets and 2,200 “favorites” as of publishing time.

UPDATE: Bring on the Photoshop!

Do you think that SpaghettiOs’ Pearl Hearbor tweet is insensitive?
