Literal ‘Cat Burglar’ Has Owner Turning To Facebook To Return Stolen Items

The crimes of a “cat burglar” who is, in fact, an actual cat, have prompted the three-year-old Siamese cross’ owner to use Facebook in order to return items pilfered to their rightful owners.

Paul Edwards put a notice on Facebook to help return items stolen by his cat-burglar to their owners. Among the items stolen are a phone charger, a hand puppet and a child’s artwork.

“We take photographs of things that Theo has brought home and put them up on Facebook, saying ‘Excuse me, do any of you recognize these?” Edwards said on Facebook.

His cat, Theo, has also stolen a condom, crisp packets, end caps from guttering, a fluffy pen, muslin cloth and other cat toys. Edwards says that his Ipswich neighbors have been understanding regarding Theo’s crimes.

Edwards first noticed that Theo had gone “cat burglar” when he noticed cat toys in his home that he was sure he hadn’t bought.

“We sheepishly had to go to our neighbour’s with a handful of cat toys, which turned out to be his.”

After that, Theo’s crimes escalated.

“We’ve got some other neighbours who have young children and quite like the cat so [they] had encouraged him into the house.

“He started stealing things from them and it kind of went downhill from there.”

Edwards’ girlfriend, Rachael Drouet, admitted to feeling sorry for the victims of Theo’s burglarizing.

“Last month he broke into their home, ran upstairs and nicked a fluffy pink pen from the twins’ bedroom right in front of them,” she said. “Luckily they think it’s hilarious.”

She also said that Theo was becoming a “bit of a neighbourhood celebrity for all the wrong reasons.”

“We live in hope that one day he’ll bring back an iPad or something of significant value,” she joked.

So if you live in Ipswich and something of yours goes missing, here is the likely face of your cat burglar:
