Meet Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist based in Los Angeles. She was invited to the premiere of ‘San Andreas.’ A film that chronicles an apocalyptic earthquake in which the Rock saves the day. (Or maybe not, we haven’t seen it yet.)

Dr. Jones has spent her life studying earthquakes and is an expert when it comes to this kind of natural disaster. So, she decided to live tweet her thoughts during the fictitious earthquake that happens in ‘San Andreas.’
Apparently there are some things the movie gets right, but for the most part ‘San Andreas’ gets lots of things wrong.
First big howler. San Andreas the movie pretends that California has a subduction zone. We can only have a M8.2

Just a warning, half of the time we have no idea what she is talking about.
If seismologists could actually predict EQs, we'd all be much richer. Too bad that part of San Andreas isn't real…

But, at least the movie does teach some valuable earthquake safety lessons.
First big safety message- if the shaking is bad enough to damage a dam you won't be able to run

Stop, drop and hold on. Good to know.
Yes! Drop, cover& hold on. The right thing to do in an earthquake

Don’t run. Apparently in ‘San Andreas’, there is a lot of running.
Now people fall trying to run but they run anyway. I guess only the seismologists know Drop Cover Hold On

She was quick to point out the silly inaccuracies of the movie.
Another good tidbit. Landlines work when cellphones are out because of no electricity

But then, it was back to safety. Always with the safety, Dr. Jones.
Great emotional message – not knowing if your family is ok is hard. Do you have a family communication plan?

But can we blame her? Dr. Jones is a independent woman. She doesn’t need anyone to save her from an earthquake. She can save herself.
Competence makes the girl sexy! That's a new message i can applaud!

You go Dr. Jones. You go.
