Comedian Rik Mayall passed away this week at the age of 56.
Mayall was best known for shows like The Young Ones and Bottom. He also starred as Phoebe Cates imaginary friend in the comedy Drop Dead Fred.
Sky News reports that Mayall was in a serious quad bike accident in 1998 that put him in a coma for several days. The actor eventually recovered and returned to work.
Mayall said: “The main difference between now and before my accident is I’m just very glad to be alive. Other people get moody in their forties and fifties – men get the male menopause. I missed the whole thing. I was just really happy.”
Police have not released an official cause of death yet but they did say that Mayall’s death was “not suspicious.”
