A death hoax is never funny. A death hoax after a near fatal shooting… that’s just scary. Twitter users woke up this morning to find that “R.I.P. Chris Brown” was trending. It was quickly dismissed as a hoax but many people were worried especially since the singer was allegedly the target of a shooting over the weekend.

The death hoax was started by Dashawn Everett (@LightSkinMLK) on Twitter. Everett claimed that he saw Chris Brown die with his own eyes. Of course, Everett was just messing around. Chris Brown is not dead.
R.I.P. Chris Brown is trending, looks like Twitter is killing people again.

Music producer Suge Knight and two other people were hit during a nightclub shooting this weekend. Initial reports claimed that Chris Brown was the intended target of the shooting. The R&B singer escaped without injury but his fans were still a little on edge. Which made it the perfect / worst time to start a death hoax.
Suge Knight, as well as the other two victims of the nightclub shooting, are expected to survive. As for Chris Brown, he’s moved on to other things.
